One of the network’s main directions was U420, a retail chain established in Kyiv in spring 2025 and later expanded to about 30 locations. The stores sold solutions containing a prohibited synthetic cannabinoid, mixing it with other substances so that the formula formally did not fall under the ban. Bihus.Info journalists bought products from three Kyiv stores and sent samples to a private laboratory and the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ state forensic center, where the substance was identified as a synthetic cannabinoid classified as a type of spice. The Cabinet of Ministers added the substance to the prohibited list on February 5, 2026, several days after the purchases. The U420 network had also been discussed in connection with the transnational drug cartel “Khimprom,” led by a Russian citizen known as “Mexican.”
The published recordings also show discussions about bribery and attacks against media figures. Participants considered offering journalists money, then discussed threats, physical attacks, arson and acid attacks if that failed. “Mexican” proposed pouring acid on Denys Bigus’s face to make him “unpresentable,” while another participant suggested beating him with hammers. Similar options were discussed for blogger Ihor Lachenkov and the author of the ProKyiv Telegram channel. Participants also considered luring Bigus abroad under the pretext of a fictitious exhibition in the Dominican Republic, Mexico or Cambodia. The investigation is ongoing.
