The proposed talks would be the fourth round brokered by the Trump administration, following a round in Geneva in February. Ukraine insists that any peace agreement include strong guarantees against another Russian invasion. Russia’s stated demands include full control of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions and Crimea, Ukrainian withdrawal from all four annexed regions, renunciation of Ukraine’s NATO bid, a reduction in the size of the Ukrainian military, and removal of restrictions on the Russian language.
